Survival Swim Lessons for Infants and Young Children in Lake County, Florida
Private, One-on-One Survival Swim Lessons • PediaSwim Certified • CPR Certified • Serving Lake, Seminole, and Orange County, Florida since 2018
Float First Aquatics provides private, one-on-one survival swim lessons for infants and young children, taught by a PediaSwim-certified and CPR-certified instructor. Lessons focus on floating, breathing, and self-rescue skills to help keep your child safer in and around the water. We proudly serve families in Lake County, Florida and surrounding areas.
❓ What ages do you teach?
Survival swim lessons at Float First Aquatics are available for infants and young children starting at 6 months of age (must be crawling) through approximately 6 years old.
Lessons are always individualized to your child’s development, comfort level, and abilities.
❓ What is the Beginner Program?
All new swimmers begin with the Beginner Survival Swim Program.
This program is:
🫧 15-minute private lessons
🫧 4 days per week
🫧 Approximately 6 weeks
Children work toward floating independently, breath control, calm confidence, and self-rescue skills.
❓ What are Refresher Lessons?
Refresher Lessons are for children who have already completed the 6-week Beginner Program. They are typically 3 weeks long and help rebuild confidence and reinforce skills after a break, at the end of a season, or the following year.
❓ What are Maintenance Lessons?
Maintenance Lessons are ongoing lessons offered twice per week for children who have completed survival swim training and want to keep their skills fresh and strong throughout the year.
Availability is limited and scheduled around new-swimmer programs.
❓ How much do lessons cost?
To keep things simple, all lessons are the same price per lesson:
💙 $22.50 per lesson
💙 $90 per week for 4 lessons
💙 Maintenance: $45 per week for 2 lessons
A one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $80 per child applies at initial enrollment, with a $10 sibling discount.
❓ Why are lessons only 15 minutes long?
Short, focused lessons are developmentally appropriate for infants and young children.
They allow your child to practice skills without becoming overwhelmed or fatigued — and learning 4 days per week gives them the consistent repetition they need to make steady progress and build muscle memory.
❓ What if my child cries during lessons?
This is very normal — especially in the beginning. Crying is often just communication, not fear. Your child is learning new expectations and boundaries in the water. With consistency, structure, and calm support, most children become confident and comfortable as trust builds.
Your child is always treated with gentle guidance, patience, and respect.
❓ Do parents stay during lessons?
Yes — parents observe quietly from the viewing area. This allows your child to stay focused and build trust with the instructor, while still knowing you are close by. If the presence of a parent or guardian becomes to distracting the instructor may ask that you hide in your car until the lesson is over.
❓ Do you teach stroke swimming?
No — Float First Aquatics specializes in survival swim instruction.
The focus is on floating, breath control, calm confidence, and self-rescue skills. Stroke development typically comes later once a strong safety foundation is in place.
❓ Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are taught in a 12×24 saltwater pool at my home in Eustis, Florida. It is heated and under a large canopy to help create a calm, comfortable learning environment.
❓ How long will it take my child to learn?
Every child is unique. Most new swimmers attend for about 6 weeks, though progress may vary based on age, development, attendance, and temperament. Consistent attendance is one of the biggest keys to success.
❓ Do survival swim lessons prevent drowning?
No program can ever guarantee drowning prevention.
However, survival swim lessons significantly improve a child’s ability to respond safely in the water by teaching floating, breath control, and self-rescue skills — adding an important layer of protection alongside constant supervision and pool safety.
❓ What should my child wear or bring?
Please bring:
✔ A properly-fitted reusable swim diaper (if not fully potty trained)
✔ A snug-fitting swimsuit
✔ A dry towel
✔ A labeled water bottle
Please avoid loose fitted sun shirts and sunscreen.
❓ Do you offer make-up lessons, refunds, or credits?
Specific policies regarding attendance, tuition, and make-ups are outlined in the Parent Guide & Expectations provided at registration. This keeps expectations clear and consistent for everyone.
❓ Are you certified?
Yes. Float First Aquatics is taught by a PediaSwim-certified survival swim instructor who is also CPR certified.
